A few weeks back, I enrolled in an internship program of Digital Deepak. He is one of India’s well known digital marketers.

After taking a few of his classes, I am convinced that I took the right decision.

Today, I am going to discuss one of his class where he talked about ‘marketing in this age’.

If you are interested in learning about digital marketing in any form, I am sure you will find this article worthwhile.

Below are the topics I learned from one of the classes of digitaldeepak.

  1. The Fundamentals of Marketing

Most people somehow associate with the word ‘marketing’ in a negative sense. They feel like someone is going to sell them forcefully or by manipulating them.

There are other myths like some people just born with marketing skills. You cannot master marketing starting from scratch.

In reality, marketing is based on science. Anybody can master marketing given the time and effort.

The unknown sales call you are getting from random companies for buying insurance, credit card, or other stuff is the example of very shallow marketing.

Real marketing is not just about selling but attracting people and then keeping them happy by communicating them, by understanding their needs. So that, they can remain a customer for lifelong and trust you.

As Seth Godin says-

“People do not buy goods and services, they buy relations, stories, and magic.”

One of the main purposes of marketing is to create an extra space about your brand, about yourself in your customer's mind.

Marketing is a skill that exists from the very early age of human civilization and will exist for a long time (perhaps forever).

2. Traditional Marketing vs Digital Marketing

Traditional marketing is always limited. You can market your product or service only to people whom you know.

if you are living in Bangalore, will you be able to market your product in London?

Very difficult traditionally right.

Even if you want to do, you need to spend a lot of money for that.

Nut using digital platforms, you can easily market your product/service in London without using much money or manpower.

Basically, the whole world is your market if your product is really good and valuable.

For the same reason, digital marketing is growing exponentially and will become even bigger in the coming days.

Jeff Bezos correctly said-

“It’s hard to find things that won’t sell online”

3. CATT Marketing Model

CATT Model is an excellent marketing model?

What basically CATT is?

There is a useful formula that says-

Wealth = n^CATT

This means how much wealth you will earn using any form of digital marketing depends on how well you utilize CATT.

Here n = niche you choose

C = content created through blog posts, videos, webinars, courses, etc.

A = attention of the traffic you bring through SEO, social media, paid ads, referrals, etc.

T = Trust you build with your audience via marketing automation and retargeting.

T = Transactions you do with your audience through sales and convert them into clients.

4. Personal Branding

More than anything you have to sell yourself in today’s world. It might sound eerie but this is what people called ‘Personal branding’.

You have to establish your authority. People want personation in everything nowadays.

The more you known to people, the bigger your personal brand is.

To establish your worth you need to provide or sell valuable stuff to people. People’s trust is one of the rare assets today. The bigger the trust, the more valuable your brand is.

Once you establish your brand, you can start anything new and people will reach you.

Think about Elon Musk. He is bigger than his companies.

People might not know about Tesla, The boring Company, SpaceX, etc. but most people today know Elon Musk.

That’s the power of Personal Branding.

5. Communication Skills

Good marketing is all about having good communication skills.

If you cannot communicate well, how can you market or sell anything?

People will be more interested in what you are saying about your product than what your product actually is.

It’s all about understanding your audience well and then communicating with their needs in mind.

However, many people have a misconception that you have to be really good at English to communicate well.

This is far from the truth.

Good communication doesn’t mean sophisticated English. In fact, it's better if you don’t write or speak in sophisticated English.

The aim here is not to impress your audience but to communicate effectively with them.

If you observe people well and practice writing and speaking time and again, you will become a good communicator one day.

As Jim Rohn said-

If you just communicate, you can get by.

But if you communicate skillfully, you can work miracles.

6. Integrated Digital Marketing

Integrated digital marketing is utilizing all the digital marketing methods available today in such a way that each digital marketing channel complements each other and give you maximum benefit.

It is like using digital marketing holistically instead of using digital marketing in a fragmented manner.

For example, if you only learn search engine optimization (SEO), it will not bring much benefit to you.

But if you have knowledge about E-mail marketing, social media marketing, content marketing, search engine marketing, etc you can get maximum benefit.

If only your eyes are working properly but other senses are not functional, can you perceive the world well?

No, right.

To live your life fully, you need your nose, ears, tongue, etc to work aptly.

Similar is the case with digital marketing and that’s why you need integrated digital marketing.

7. My Personal Experience with Marketing/Sales

I am writing for the last 1.5 years and today I have a blog where I write every Sunday. Besides this, I also send a weekly Thursday newsletter to my readers.

Naturally, marketing is massively important to me.

Initially, my growth was slow but with time I am learning about lead generation, automation, e-mail marketing, etc.

My growth has increased since the time I started my newsletter.

In this little time, I have experienced a few things about sales and marketing-

A. Marketing is about gaining the trust of people. This is what Deepak Sir says Masstrust.

B. You can gain trust by providing valuable content, quality content.

C. You need to understand people’s needs. Different people have different requirements.

D. You need to be constantly in touch with your audience. They should feel like they are communicating with a real human not an automated robot.

E. Often ask people about their feedback. What they like and what they don’t. People want to feel empowered. When they feel they have some control, they feel more connected.

I am sure my learnings about integrated digital marketing and suggestions by digitaldeepak will help me to increase my audiences and their trust massively.

In the future, I want to become a well-known writer. I want to grow my blog. I will have my own online courses where I will teach people about writing, content marketing, and newsletters (e-mail marketing).
